In the name of love

Have a listen to this new song, “In the name of love”.  This recording was done straight off the mixing desk (plus a stereo mic of the room) at Holy Trinity just this last Sunday (8th August).  Tell me what you think.

  1. Nice song Mark. (Are the lyrics somewhere?) Sounds a bit low (though A is a nice key!) Would you record it higher in Bb? Does mean singing a D, but there’s plenty of build up to it. G# a bit low for most.

Only other thing is intuitively I went for the tonic on “name” at beginning of chorus so felt a bit let down by the F#. but I suspect if you put the whole thing up a semitone higher it would feel OK. G feels like a bit of a turning point in terms of range – maybe just for me. (Only felt let down the first time – preferred it once I got used to it)

Feel free to ignore all of that – you probably just wanted a like/dislike comment! Love your work.

    • Hey Liz,
I know what you mean about range and stuff like that. It’s always a set of compromises… I’ve made changes to these things in the not too distant past and then reverted because I preferred the original!

  2. Great! I keep thinking of ‘Pride’ by U2 but your lyrics make more sense! Nice flute.

  3. Noah wants to let you know he loves it! Do you have the words and music somewhere easy for us to access?

    • Thank you Noah! If the kids like it, it’s a good thing! I should have lyrics up soon. Hopefully a score too. Hope you guys are well.

  4. I really like it, it’s a great song. You definitely need to do a live album at 7pm of your songs especially the rock version of He Lives. Again a really good with great lyrics.

  5. Just come back down the mountain. This song at MKC was awesome!! Great job with all the music this weekend, pls know that all the new concepts/ideas you guys presented in the music were very helpful and were really refreshing. Lyrics of this song are great. I think it really benefited and works very well instrumentally with the guitar shimmer/delays/effects you guys put with it, both in the verse (the lower tones) and chorus. Hope this version ends up on your live recording!

  6. Hi Mark,

Just heard you play this at Men’s Convention, really enjoyed singing along with you. Great job on all the songs really but this was particularly good. Was this one of the ones you got a live recording of?

    • Thank you to both Sam and Andrew! Glad you enjoyed MKC 1. We had a real buzz, and really enjoyed playing together. The songs from the conference that we’re hoping to put on the next album are as follows:
      -In the name of love
      -Beneath the cross
      -Stand up for Jesus
      -Be thou my vision
      -It is well
      -Holy holy holy.
I think we got some great crowd singing recordings, which is what we really need from the live recordings. So hopefully it will really sound awesome when the project is finished in July!!
      Cheers,
      Mark

      • Can’t wait till they come out.

Thanks again for playing, was really great, hope all the others are just as good.
